Basic Rifle Shooting class taught by a NRA certified instructor
The course goal for Basics of Pistol Shooting is to teach the foundational knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. The NRA Basic Pistol course is a blended training course portion teaches gun safety rules; types of pistols; proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols; ammunition knowledge and selection; selecting and storing a pistol; the fundamentals of pistol shooting; clearing stoppages, zeroing; pistol shooting errors; and pistol inspection and maintenance. Basics of Pistol Shooting is also the foundational course for future NRA training or CCW training.
This course also includes live-fire range training and students will attempt to qualify for NRA Basic Pistol Certification at one or multiple levels:
> Red: Four five shot groups within 4 inch circle at 10 feet
> White: Four five shot groups within 4 inch circle at 15 feet
> Blue: Four five shot groups within 4 inch circle at 20 feet
And…if Blue Level sounds easy, you can also attempt to qualify at Instructor level—16 of 20 shots in a 6 inch group at 45 feet.
Groups can be cumulative and do not have to be shot consecutively. Rimfire 22 and centerfire pistol calibers allowed. We have rental and loaner pistols available for this class.
